Each month there is a meeting at the Community Arts Center. The meetings include diverse activities such as guest speakers, demonstrations, slide shows, and even photo shoots with models.
The intra-club contest is also held each month, with members bringing in three photographs on a previously-selected theme. Judging is by other members, and the photographer with the most points at the end of the year receives the “Photographer of the Year” award.
The club travels to a variety of places. Past trips include: Elk County, Phipps Conservatory, and other sites.
Camera Club members have their photographs featured in members-only exhibit. The exhibit draws a sizable crowd and demonstrates the diversity of interests and talents within the organization. It has been featured in the news media on several occassions.
Both members and the general public are invited to participate in the annual contest, where winners are selected by jury from categories. Cash prizes and ribbons are awarded. The participants are displayed in the Galleria Mall.
The “Photographer of the Year” award is presented during this event, as determined by the results of the interclub contest.
The annual Camera Club Christmas party is held on the date of the regular December meeting at a local area restaurant. Regular meeting activities are suspended and club members, spouses and guests spend an evening celebrating the Christmas season and enjoying each others company. During the party, there is always some type of activity be it readings, songs or vocal entertainment, as well as door prizes and a lively “Chinese Gift exchange”.
